HISTORIC SIGN POLE

Hollywood Theatre

6764 Hollywood Blvd.

The Hollywood Theatre was the second movie house to open on Hollywood Boulevard and is the oldest still standing. The theatre originally had a Beaux Art façade, though it was remodeled in the Art Deco style in 1938. When it opened in 1913, general admission was 10 cents, loge seats were 15 cents, and children were admitted for a nickel. In the 1930s, it was one of the first marquees to be changed to a triangular rather than flat design in order to be seen more easily by motorists.
