Preserving Hollywood’s Legacy, One Project at a Time

The Hollywood Historic Trust is proud to offer grants to support the preservation and celebration of Hollywood’s rich cultural heritage. Our annual grant program provides $250,000 in funding across multiple categories to help maintain and enhance our historic landmarks, improve tourism experiences, document our history, and engage our community.

Grant Categories

Physical Landmark Preservation (up to 40% of Annual Budget – $100,000)

Funding supports the restoration and maintenance of Hollywood’s iconic landmarks, including historic signage repair, period-appropriate lighting restoration, and preservation equipment.

Tourism Enhancement (up to 25% of Annual Budget – $62,500)

Grants fund projects that improve visitor experiences, such as historical markers, guided walking tours, mobile app experiences, informational kiosks, multi-language tourism materials, historic district mapping, and mural preservation.

Visual Documentation (up to 25% of Annual Budget – $62,500)

Supports capturing and preserving Hollywood’s history through photography campaigns, documentaries, virtual reality experiences, and digital preservation of historic documents.

Community Engagement (up to 10% of Annual Budget – $25,000)

Funding for programs that connect the community with Hollywood’s heritage, including heritage events, school programs, community preservation workshops, and historical reenactments.

Available Grant Sizes

Funding is awarded based on project scope:

  • Major Restoration Grants: Up to $25,000–$50,000
  • Medium Project Grants: Up to $10,000–$24,999
  • Small Project Grants: Up to $5,000–$9,999
  • Emergency Repair Grants: Up to $5,000

Who Can Apply?

Eligible applicants include property owners in Hollywood historic districts, business improvement districts, and 501(c) nonprofit organizations committed to preservation efforts.

How Applications Are Evaluated

Projects are assessed in four key areas:

  • Historical Significance (40%) – Landmark status, cultural value, tourism impact, and relevance to Hollywood’s history.
  • Visual Impact (20%) – Public visibility, contribution to Hollywood’s aesthetic, and potential for visitor engagement.
  • Community Benefit (20%) – Enhancements to local businesses, neighborhood improvement, accessibility, and educational opportunities.
  • Project Feasibility (20%) – Realistic timelines, budget appropriateness, technical expertise, and long-term maintenance planning.

Required Documentation

Applicants must submit a detailed proposal, including:

  • Proof of property ownership
  • Historic significance statement
  • Project budget and contractor quotes
  • Timeline with key milestones
  • Maintenance plan
  • Current site photos
  • Marketing and community impact plan
  • Necessary permits and approvals

Grant Recipient Requirements

Selected projects must provide quarterly progress updates, final project documentation, media coverage reports, tourism impact metrics, and an ongoing maintenance plan.
