HISTORIC SIGN POLE

C.E. Toberman Co. Building

6780 Hollywood Blvd.

Originally a four-story building, a classical façade was added in the 1920s. In 1935, the top three stories were removed in a remodel to create the building as it is today. Hollywood’s most prolific builder, C.E. Toberman, established his first office in an earlier building on the same site. Over a 70-year period, Toberman came to be known as “Mr. Hollywood” for erecting 29 commercial buildings in the area, including the Chinese Theatre, El Capitan, and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. He was also responsible for the establishment of the Hollywood Bowl.
