HISTORIC SIGN POLE
Christie Realty Building
6765 Hollywood Blvd.
Built in 1928, this Spanish Colonial Revival style building was designed by Carl Jules Weyl and featured similar design aesthetics as those of the Hollywood Brown Derby, which he also designed. He was also the set designer for films including Casablanca and Yankee Doodle Dandy. Its second floor once housed the Embassy Club, a private club opened by restaurateur Eddie Brandstatter that catered to film stars looking to avoid the crowds next door at Café Montmartre. The building was originally owned by Al and Charles Christie, two of early Hollywood’s most powerful movie moguls.
