Wilkes Vine St. Theatre

Designed by architects H.C. Chambers and Myron Hunt in the Beaux Arts style, the Wilkes Vine St. Theatre opened in 1927 as a Broadway-style playhouse. In 1936, it became the CBS Radio Playhouse. It broadcast Lux Radio Theatre, a radio show hosted by Cecil B. DeMille which featured major stars in radio versions of hit movies. The Lucky Strike Hit Parade broadcast its West Coast episodes. By 1953, the theatre reverted to stage performances and was remodeled into the Huntington Hartford before being renamed the James Doolittle Theatre in 1964. Finally, in 2004, it was acquired and renamed the Ricardo Montalbán Theatre by the Nosotros Foundation.
